Arctic Centre has a new Scientific Advisory Board
The Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland has a new Scientific Advisory Board. The Arctic Centre improves comprehensive understanding of the Arctic through research and science communication and the board members are experts in those fields.
The chair of the board is Professor Gail
Fondahl from the University of Northern British Columbia, Canada.
Other members are Associate Professor Elena Gladun from
Tyumen State University (Russia), Director Kristina
Jonsson form Teknikens Hus in Luleå (Sweden), Researcher
Annika E. Nilsson from KTH Royal Institute of
Technology in Stockholm, Secretary General Reetta
Kettunen from the Finnish Committee for Public Information (TJNK),
Senior lecturer and Associate Professor Johan Olofsson
from the Umeå University (Sweden) and Professor and Director Hiroki
Takakura from the Sendai Centre for Northeast Asian studies
(Japan).
The Scientific Advisory Board has an advisory and
supervisory role. It supports the Arctic Centre in strategic work and supports the
leadership of the Arctic Centre by giving advice for research planning, science
education, data management, communication and outreach. The Board supports Arctic
Centre’s national and international co-operation and networking with scientific
partners. It also advices the Arctic Centre in gaining external funding.
Term of the new Board is from the 1st of January 2020 to the 31st of
December 2022. The former Board met last time in November 2019.
