Arctic Centre is looking for a trainee in science communication
Are you a student interested in Arctic affairs, international activities, and communications? Apply traineeship at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland!
Position is meant for undergraduate and graduate
students (bachelor’s and master’s degree) primarily from the University of Lapland
or Lapland University of Applied Sciences. Traineeship is not limited to any
particular field of study. The duration of the traineeship is three months between
January-June 2022. A more specific time will be agreed with the selected
trainee.
Trainee will become a member of the science
communications unit of the Arctic Centre. Tasks relate to science communication, the
work of the Arktikum Science Centre and the general activities of the Arctic Centre,
including familiarization with current research projects. In this position, the
student is able to become acquainted with the activities of the Arctic Centre as an
international center for research and science communication and with Arctic issues
in general.
Practical tasks include among other
things maintenance of different communication channels and participation in the
organization of events, visits, and the operation of the science centre. Tasks can
also be tailored to the person’s special skills or interests. The task requires
proficiency in English language. Finnish language is not required, so traineeship is
also aimed at international students. Applicants are expected to have communication
and organizational skills and motivation to act as part of our international work
community. Internship grant/voucher granted by applicant’s educational institution
is considered as an advantage.
Salary is 1252
euros per month. Tasks generally require physical presence at the Arctic Centre,
located in Rovaniemi at the Arktikum House.
