NENYA / MARGARITA is a feature documentary following a young and bold Nenet teenager on a journey of self-discovery.

Told through the eyes of Margarita herself, the film offers a rare portrait of an ancient way of life from a fresh, surprising voice – not an elder or chief, but a young woman standing at a crossroads, questioning her future.

Margarita’s coming-of-age story unfolds in the present while gaining depth and resonance through intimate family footage spanning over 20 years. With her voice always at the center, she guides us through a tapestry of past and present, revealing a story of extraordinary change in the High Arctic.

The documentary will be screened in Arktikum, Polarium Hall on Thursday 26 November 2026 at 5.30 pm. The event will also include an introduction and Q&A by the Documentary Director Matthew Dyas and Research Professor of Arctic Anthropology Florian Stammler from the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland.
