University researcher Osmo Rätti acts as the interim director of the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland starting January 1, 2026.

The term of office of Johanna Ikävalko who served as the director of the Arctic Centre from 2021 to 2025 ended at the turn of the year.

Application period for the position of Professor in Arctic Resilience and Adaptation including the tasks of the director of the Arctic Centre for a fixed period, ended in November 2025. The position is filled as soon as possible and until then, the task is taken care by Rätti who has worked at the Arctic Centre as a researcher since 1995 and as a vice-director for many years.
