The 11th Volume of the Current Developments in Arctic Law is released
The Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 11 of Current Developments in Arctic Law (2023).
The newest volume is a compilation of short articles
on the special theme Inter-Polar Perspectives: Connecting the Arctic with the Third
Pole. The Volume is produced as part of the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Law
and the UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education, which the NIEM
hosts.
The contributions are inspired by
the discussions held at the first “Inter-Polar Conference: Connecting the Arctic
with the Third Pole” held in Kathmandu, Nepal, in September 2023.
The volume includes a report highlighting major findings
and key messages for enhancing research, networks and collaboration between the
Arctic and the Third Pole. Additionally, a number of other contributions have also
sketched a comparative analysis of the Arctic and the Third Pole regions, discussing
their similarities and differences. The analysis was primarily drawn from human and
social science disciplines, focusing among other thing on indigenous perspectives,
geopolitics and security as well as mining and human displacement.
The publication is non-peer-reviewed but considered
scientific.
Publication is open-access publication
and can be downloaded from the following link:
