The Calotte Academy 2025 takes place 10–15 November
The Calotte Academy is an annual traveling symposium and an international scientific forum in the North Calotte region of Europe.
The Calotte Academy is designed to promote
interdisciplinary discourse as well as academic and policy-oriented dialogue between
senior researchers, early career scientists and advanced graduate students and other
northern stakeholders, such as policymakers, civil servants and community leaders
and planners.
The Calotte Academy 2025 will take place with the
theme “The Future of Europe – A Northern Point of View” from 10 to 15 November 2025.
The travelling symposium will begin in Rovaniemi and take participants on an
exciting journey through Luleå, Kautokeino, Hetta, Inari and Ivalo, Sodankylä and
finally return to Rovaniemi.
The purpose of this
year’s theme is to inspire discussion on the future of Europe, especially from
a Northern point of view, in turbulent times of worldwide disorder, great power
rivalry and the climate crisis.
The registration to the
whole traveling symposium is closed but the first day’s program taking place at the
University of Lapland is open for all.
