Somewhere in Sodankylä researchers are digging a hole in the snow and sweeping the snow with a paintbrush. Why and how is snow studied?

On the Exploring the Snow video you can follow snow
researchers of the Finnish Meteorological Institute in their work. It is an episode
in the Arctic Variety video series where you can take a look in the ordinary Arctic
life in Finland and in our Arctic expertise. A book by the same name will be
published in the autumn of 2016.

This Arctic
ensemble is produced by the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland and
Europe Information service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The
videos are shot and directed by Rovaniemi production company Northlight Pictures.
