Nessling Foundation grant for Nadezhda Filimonova
Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation supports sustainability transition projects that aim to bring climate action back within the planet’s limits. The foundation granted a total of 2.84 million euros through the general grant application.
The foundation awarded a total of €77,430 grant to
Nadezhda Filimonova, a postdoctoral researcher at the
Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, for her project Waste
Solutions Without Borders: Advancing Sustainable Waste Management Practices in the
Arctic.
This two-year project is a continuation of
the STRAWCO
networking project, which was funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Arctic
Program. The project also expands networks and explores interregional city
partnerships to support communities, decision-makers, and waste management
operators.
The project utilizes multilevel, collaborative
governance frameworks and participatory qualitative research methods to promote
sustainability, reduce inequalities in Arctic waste management, and preserve
planetary boundaries such as climate and land system.
