Call for Sessions
We welcome proposals for sessions to be held during the Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference.
The Arctic region is home to humans but also many other species — both now and for generations to come. The conference will highlight different perspectives on how to ensure that the Arctic region remains a good place for everyone to live and call ‘home’.
The scientific and thematic sessions will be organized on Wed 26 May. We welcome proposals for sessions that can be comprised of oral presentations or panel/round table discussions.
The length of the sessions will most likely be 90 minutes, including sufficient time for Q&A or other forms of audience involvement.
Sessions should cover some elements of the sustainable future of the Arctic and follow for example one of these themes:
- Sustainable future for people living in the Arctic
- Intergenerational and/or multispecies justice in the Arctic
- Sustainable urban Arctic
- Innovations, technology and AI as drivers for sustainable future
- Just green transition in the North
- Aspects of security in sustainable Arctic future
- Science diplomacy serving the sustainable future of the Arctic
- The state of Arctic cooperation (in Finland and internationally)
Proposals must include the following:
- The session’s title (can be preliminary)
- The session’s convener(s)
- Contact person
- List of speakers and speaker topics (can be preliminary)
- A short description of the session for the review process, maximum 250 words
- A short promotional description of the session (this text can be used to promote your session on social media, the text can also be sent later)
- Any special requests (room setup etc.)
The deadline for session proposals is 31 January 2027.
Proposals should be submitted via email to rovaniemi.arcticspirit@ulapland.fi .
Please contact the same email address if you have any further questions.
The decision will be announced by 15 February 2027. There is no fee for organizing a session, but organizers and speakers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation, as well as the applicable event participation fee.
